Aaron (#cudstorotto19) I will compete in the Rottnest Channel and Port to Pub swims as a solo swimmer in 2019. Training for this will have its challenges, and I would like to share this with you all to show you my journey. It’s far from impossible. How did I get, Here is my story: Work brought me to the Pilbara in 2010. I joined local football clubs in Newman and Port Hedland. Looking for ways to maintain my fitness during the football off-season, I decided to revisit swimming. Growing up in Perth, being involved in swimming clubs and surf clubs as a little tacker, I loved to swim; it had just been a while. Years, in fact. In 2014, I organised a team to partake in the Virtual Rottnest Swim in Karratha. At that point, it was a couple of lads trying to keep fit during the off-season of football, swimming twice a week. This was the motivation I needed to get back swimming again. Since that Virtual Rottnest Swim, I have completed: 3x Solo Crossings to Rotto 1x team of 4 to Rotto 1x duo to Rotto 1x team 4 virtual Rotto swim in Karratha 1x team 4 10km lake Argyle Swim 1x team 4 20km lake Argyle swim And a number of OWS swims Not to miss the fact that there has been some failed attempts to. Cocos Keeling island swim which the event was cancelled in 2017. Sorrento the lovely Sorrento beach Australia Day swim I have been unsuccessful to complete the 10km event in both 2017 and 2018. Just some of the lows. This year I have yet again decided to take my swimming to the next level. I am currently training to complete 2 solo crossing for the Rottnest Channel swim and the Port to Pub in 2019 a big challenge as the 2 events are only 3 weeks apart. To help me achieve my swimming goals I have sought the help of swim coach Ceinwen Roberts. Ceinwen’s challenging swimming training session with her squad makes the training so much more enjoyable and has also introduced me to a new group of friends that are like minded. My wife has also recently started swimming. Swimming with my wife makes it more enjoyable as we can train, meal plan and organise to take part in swimming events together (my wife swam in my 2017 team of 4). I am really glad that it is a hobby we are both thoroughly enjoying. I am planning to continue my swimming and look forward to seeing where it takes me in the future. I really hope you enjoy this adventure with me. Follow me here or on Instagram with #cudstorotto19 View all posts by #cudstorotto19
